And then there are people who just want to shove their opinions down other people's throats. lel. I sort of just want to troll him now.

wow, who cares if it's his bike and he can do whatever he wants with it. ffs, that's a given. you can toss as much money as you want to at a turd to try to make that turd your vision of the perfect turd for you, but it's still a turd. The bike he's dumping money into is an antiquated piece of metal. That's all it is. There is nothing special about that bike except what he places on it in his own mind. He's tossed money at it make it LOOK like he wants it to look. How much? and I really don't care what anyone thinks, a new bike is going to be safer than a bike that is 2+ decades old.

Is it wrong that I consider the old BMW R bikes more than a BMW RnineT?

"... and I really don't care what anyone thinks, a new bike is going to be safer than a bike that is 2+ decades old."

Is that statement true? Like, they're bikes.

I hate the thought process "Newer is always better 100% of the time". Not only is it patently false, but it breeds ignorance

Or the other way around, too.

Good point. I'll admit I lean towards older cars, but I'll be honest when I say that I like a wide range of cars made in a wide range of eras. Here's a brief, incomplete list to illustrate my point:

-Miata

-Volvo anything

-67 Mustang

-70 Challenger

-2011 Charger R/T

-57 Belair

-Kaiser Darrin

-40 Chevy 5 window

whilst ABS and traction have moved into bikes the thing that prevents the accident is the rider. make of the what you will.

I love seeing old engineering myself. Sure new bikes comes with ABS, but there's something to admire in older simplistic engineering.

Sometimes there are legitimate advantages to old vehicles. My MR2 feels awesome to drive because it doesn't weigh anything and doesn't have power steering, and my old CB350 was great because it felt like a mountain bike with an engine. That doesn't even get into the simplicity of them. Good luck trying to fix an electrical problem on a new BMW RT.
